LEWISTON — “The Hound of the Baskervilles,” a Sherlock Holmes spoof produced by The Public Theatre, begins tonight at 7:30 p.m.

A news release describes the play as follows:

In the style of “The Compleat Wrks of Wllm Shkspr (Abridged),” a three-man theatrical troupe sets out to tour the country with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s popular spinetingling thriller “The Hound of the Baskervilles.” However, given the company’s lowbudget, this rag-tag group must portray not only Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, but a cavalcade of 13 loony and sinister characters.

“The Hound of The Baskervilles” will be continue at The Public Theatre, 31 Maple St., Jan. 26, 27, 31 and Feb. 1, 2, 3, with special morning student matinees on Jan. 29 and 30. Performance times are Thursdays and Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. An additional Saturday matinee will be held on Feb. 2 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are adults $18, youth (18 and younger) $5, group rate (10+) $15.
