Upcoming meetings
The Pownal Conservation Commission will meet on Monday, Jan. 28, at 7 p.m. in Mallett Hall. The Pownal selectmen have two meetings scheduled for February, one on Monday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m. in Mallett Hall and the other on Monday, Feb. 18, also at 7 p.m. in Mallett Hall.
More ‘Keep Me Warm’ concerts coming
Bradbury Mountain Arts is hosting a “Keep Me Warm” concert and arts series in the historic Mallett Hall, located at 429 Hallowell Road in Pownal this winter. All proceeds will be donated to the “Keep Pownal Warm” fuel assistance fund that is distributed through Freeport Community Services.
Watch for ads/posters for the remaining two events, scheduled for Feb. 9 and March 9. These will be fun concerts with a variety of music styles and performances. For more information, contact Kathy Hogue at 688-4153 or email khogue@maine.rr.com.
Energy assistance available
Residents of Freeport and Pownal can now apply for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) at the Freeport Community Center.
LIHEAP provides a once-a-year benefit to cover a portion of the cost of purchasing heating energy, which includes fuel oil, kerosene, electricity, wood and coal. This program gives priority to persons who are elderly or who have children under the age of 2 years. First-time applicants can contact Julie Fraser at 865-3985 ext. 215 for more information, or to set up an appointment. An application will be mailed to those who have previously received benefits.
North Pownal Church Food Pantry
The North Pownal United Methodist Church, Lawrence Road, has new hours for distributing food from its pantry. It is now every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m.- noon. The food pantry usually receives different kinds of breads, produce, desserts, etc. All are welcome.
Church services
