The Greater Freeport Chamber of Commerce has a new executive director.
According to Michelle Allott, a member of the chamber’s board of directors, the organization hired Douglas Porter to fill the spot that has been vacant since former Executive Director Deb King left in September to become the executive director of the Brunswick Downtown Association in September.
Allott said the board interviewed five candidates for the job and selected Porter, who previously headed up chambers of commerce in Kittery and York. She said his first day on the job was Tuesday.
