BATH — Eleanor “Betty” Goodhue, 94, formerly of Georgetown died Sunday, October 7, 2012 at HillHouse Assisted Living in Bath.
She was born in St. Louis, MO on January 14, 1918, the daughter of Albert and Emma (Kerr) Gunther.
She graduated from High School in Roslindale, MA and later from Massachusetts College of Art. She was employed in Leominster, MA where she met and on August 5, 1941 married her husband Charles V. Goodhue. They owned and operated Goodhue and Gunther, a commercial art advertising agency in North Hampton, NH. She enjoyed her work as an artist, especially painting in pastel.
Betty, being an artist, always enjoyed the beauty of nature. After retirement she moved to Georgetown, ME where she and her husband had a cottage at Indian Point. She spent her later years in a passive solar house that she had designed and had built. People especially remember her deep faith, her kindness and deep concern for others.
On November 12, 2005, she was predeceased by her husband Charles V. Goodhue.
She is survived by two daughters, Beverly Knowles and her husband Lenwood of Gorham, NH and Marilyn Watkins of Sun City West, AZ, 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 12, 2012 at Grace Episcopal Church, 1100 Washington Street in Bath. Burial will follow at Mountainside Cemetery in Georgetown. A gathering of family and friends will be held at The Mooring’s, 132 Sequinland Road in Georgetown. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Bath Area Food Bank, P.O. Box 65, Bath, 04530.
