DAMARISCOTTA — Police locked down the Great Salt Bay School in Damariscotta Wednesday morning after receiving reports that a man, upset about a pending child-custody case, might be headed toward the elementary school.
Lt. Rand Maker said the 36-year man, a resident of Bristol, was last seen driving from Bristol toward the school, which police said he had a “connection to.”
The man was stopped by police in Hancock County around 12:15 p.m. He was allowed to contact his family doctor, who determined that there was no threat to the man or the school.
At no time did police have information that the children at the school were in danger, Maker said.
The man’s name is not being released.
