RICHMOND — Velma Emily Madore 86, of Richmond, ME died on Friday, September 21, 2012, while a patient in the Azheimers unit at Winship Green Nursing Home, Bath Maine. Velma was born in Medford Massachusetts on July 31, 1926 to William George Berry and Ethel Mae Hopkins Libby.

She enjoyed playing the accordian, dancing, cooking, caring for her birds and dog “Sweet Pea”, and running errands and caring for her elderly friends. Velma never met a stranger, her heart and door were always open. She was a generous loving woman who made every day special. She was dearly loved by her family, and will be sadly missed.

She worked at Aurbach Shoe and Sylvania for many years, and later worked with her husband Joe in the family store.

Velma is predeceased by her parents William and Ethel Berry, her grandsons Joseph Elzear “Bubby” Brillant and James Paul McKenney, her brother William George Berry Jr., her son in law Elzear “Buddy” Brillant and her niece Billie Candage.

Velma is survived by her husband of 66 years, Joseph L Madore, her daughters, Jo Ellen Brillant of West Bath, Vicki Pinkham and her husband Ron of Woolwich, and Penny Knight and her husband William of Las Vegas. Her sister Chloe Tracy of Buxton, her grandchildren Charles, Robbie, Jerrie Jo, Joseph and Billy, her great grandchildren Megan, Chuck, Corey, Robbie Jr., Amber, Andrew, Erica, Miranda, Josh and John, and her great great grandchildren Savannah, Makayla, Jaimze, and Nevaeh. Velma is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

There will be no visiting hours or service at the request of the family. Upon the death of Velma’s husband Joe, they will be buried together at Orchard Hill Cemetery in West Bath Maine.
