Mr. Eaton was born in Bath, Maine, a son of Clarence R. and Bernadette Marie Lefebvre Eaton Sr. He was educated at Holy Cross School in South Portland and served as an altar boy at the church. He was a graduate of Cheverus High School in 1951. After high school he worked as the produce manager at Shaw’s Millcreek South Portland.
Clarence was an Army Veteran having served in Iceland and was also a member of the Army National Guard.
From 1961 to 1981 he proudly served as a Police Officer in South Portland, Maine retiring as a Sergeant with numerous commendations. Clarence was a graduate of the FBI Academy in Quantico, Va. He was a member of the Retired Police Officer’s Association.
Clarence was an avid reader and could be seen puttering around his home working in his gardens. He was a dedicated family man spending the majority of his time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Predeceasing him was a brother, Sidney L. Eaton in 1987.
Surviving is his adoring wife of 50 years, Veronica Roberts Eaton of Windham, Maine, a daughter, Julie A. Paine and her husband John of Limington, Maine, a son, Jeffrey A. Eaton and his wife Marianne of Windham, Maine, three sisters, Evelyn Clark and her husband Ken of Brunswick, Maine, Ellen Deck and her husband Bill and Frances Jones and her husband Sam, all of Florida. Nine grandchildren; Michael Eaton and his wife Ashlee of Edmonton, Canada., Jesika Froman and her husband Jake of Lockport, NY, Brian Gooding and his wife Allison of Acton, ME., Bethany Gooding of Limington, ME., Joseph McPhillips of Playa Del Rey, CA., John Paine and his wife Melissa of West Baldwin, ME., Jason Paine of Limington, ME., Natisha Eaton of Westbrook, ME., and Derek Eaton of Windham, ME. and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours were on Sunday, September 23, 2012 from 3-6 p.m. at the Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland, Maine. Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Monday September 24, 2012 10 A.M. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in South Portland. Interment immediately following at Brooklawn Memorial Park.
