A book about my hometown – Windham – its people, places and traditions is being prepared for fall publication. I’m still taking orders for “The Days Gone By in Windham,” so if you’d like to read about the way things used to be and the people who built this town, send your order to Kay Soldier, 114 Tandberg Trail, Windham or e-mail me at kso48@aol.com. Books cost $24 each, and can be mailed if prepaid or picked up when they’re delivered. You’ll find out about the oldest houses, how the old roads got their names, where the Revolutionary War soldiers are buried, where the best sliding places were, where the quarries were located and even how to “thrash” beans – and why it was done!
