Last Thursday, the new Frosty’s Donuts store at 45 Main St., in Freeport, opened for business. Owners Nels Omdal and his wife, Shelby St. Andre, acquired and resurrected the longtime Brunswick doughnut shop in February. Then, when the Freeport space became available, they jumped into expansion plans. All doughnuts are fried at the Maine Street store in Brunswick and ferried to Freeport five or six times each day. There are new developments, though. “One cool, new thing we’re doing here is kind of a ‘design your own doughnut’ thing,” Omdal said. “Customers can choose the kind of doughnut they want and then decide what kinds of toppings they want to put on it.”

BACK IN BRUNSWICK: Roger Caouette, left, and Ray Bergeron make their way to Frosty’s in Brunswick on a daily basis. When asked if they were curious about the new location and if they were considering taking a trip to Freeport to see it, Caouette replied, “Who else is going to maintain things around here? We have to be here (in Brunswick). If the door sticks, or if something needs to be done here, we help out. So no, we are not going there (to Freeport).”
