PORTLAND — City officials will hold a community meeting on Munjoy Hill tonight to discuss the future of the playground at the former Adams School.
Avesta Housing is currently building 16 condominiums at the former school site. A popular playground has been removed during the construction period and will be replaced with a new one.

Plans for the new playground do not currently include monkey bars, prompting 9-year-old Sadie Ouillette and 10-year-old Natasha Malia of Wilson Street to launch a campaign – using hand-drawn signs – to “Save the monkey-bars.”
Councilor Kevin Donoghue will host the meeting, which will also focus on future reuses of the city-owned land next to the development, along with city staff from public services and recreation and facilities management.
The meeting will take place at the Cummings Center, 134 Congress St. Beginning at 5:30 p.m., Donoghue and staff will lead a discussion about proposed changes to the North-Walnut street intersection. The playground discussion is scheduled for 6 p.m.
