ROCKLAND — This year the Farnsworth Art Museum is proud to present Adam Gopnik, writer for “The New Yorker,” on Friday, Aug. 31, at the Farnsworth’ fifth forum to be held at The Strand Theater at 6 p.m.

A news release describes the event as follows:

Over the years, Adam Gopnik has come to be known as one of the preeminent, wittiest, and most charming interpreters of contemporary life today.

In an interview with the Farnsworth’s director of education Roger Dell, Gopnik will discuss “A Question of Taste,” a broad look at taste in the world of food and in the world of art.

Gopnik will also take a look back at the ground-breaking Museum of Modern Art exhibition “High and Low: Modern Art and Popular Culture,” which he and Kirk Varnedoe organized in 1990, comparing what was happening more than 20 years ago with today’s blending and reordering of popular culture and fine arts.

During Gopnik’s tenure at “The New Yorker,” he has written fiction and humor pieces, book reviews, reporting pieces, and more than a hundred stories for “The Talk of the Town” and “Comment.”

The fee for this program is $25 for members and $30 for nonmembers.
