DURHAM – Two adults and two children were injured on Wednesday in a two car-collision in Durham.

According to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department, the crash happened at approximately 9 a.m. at the intersection of Royalsborough Road (Route 136) and Rabbit Road.

The sheriff’s department said a 2004 Honda Pilot driven by Bethany Picker, 43, of Lewiston, was heading south on Route 136 when her car collided with a Hyundai Elantra driven by Rayna Campbell, 18, of New Gloucester. Campbell was driving east on Rabbit Road at the time of the accident and the two vehicles crashed at the intersection, according to the sheriff’s department.

Campbell and the 12-year-old passenger in her car, whose name was not released, had to be extricated from the vehicle by rescue personnel from the Durham and Freeport fire departments. They were taken by Freeport Rescue to Maine Medical Center in Portland for what the sheriff’s department said were “non-life threatening injuries.”

Picker and the 8-year-old passenger in her car, whose name was also not released, were taken to Central Maine Medical Center for treatment. The sheriff’s department said their injuries were also non-life threatening.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged and were towed from the scene. According to the sheriff’s department, alcohol did not seem to be a factor in the accident, which remains under investigation.
