POLAND SPRING — The Poland Spring Preservation Society will present Phil House and Kathy Haley with special guests The Sweet Sixties at their annual summer concert series on Monday, Aug. 20, at 7 p.m.
A news release describes the concert as follows:
House and Haley will play a wonderful mixture of sweet melodies that will amuse and entertain all. House is the organist at the First Universalist Church in Auburn and has been playing at the All Souls Chapel for more than two decades. He has starred in concerts from Auburn to Nashville to Vienna, Austria.
Haley, who has also been playing the chapel for many years, was one of the lead singers of “Good & Plenty” and is the organist/choir director at the Court Street Baptist Church of Auburn.
The Sweet Sixties trio is a reunion of singers, all originally from Auburn. Along with Haley are singers Joanne Demers Fuller and Susan Foisy McKenney. In their teen years at Edward Little High School, they were members of the folk group “The Chord Majority.”
All proceeds benefit education programs, and the preservation and restoration of the Maine State Building and All Souls Chapel, both of which are listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.
Tickets are $7.50 at the door and include refreshments. Members of the society may be seated at 6:25 p.m. with the general public following at 6:30 p.m.
