BATH — Retired Navy Cmdr. Kirk Lippold will talk about his book, “Front Burner: Al Qaeda’s Attack on USS Cole,” at the Maine Maritime Museum, 243 Washington St., on Wednesday, Aug. 29, at 6 p.m.

Lippold was commanding officer of USS Cole on Oct. 12, 2000, when the ship was attacked by suicide bombers in Aden, Yemen. The attack killed 27 crew members, and wounded 39 others. He will discuss the attack, harbinger of a far deadlier day to come, and the tepid response of the U.S. government.

Museum members will be admitted for $5, and nonmembers for $7.
