A news release decribes the book as follows:
Just released, Wixson’s novel follows the adventures of two women downsized by corporate America who move to Maine to raise chickens and sell eggs. They discover more than they bargained for, including romance.
“Hens and Chickens” is set in the mythical small town of Sovereign, Maine (population 1,048), and features goodhearted and lovable characters, such as the old chicken farmer Wendell Russell.
Early feedback from those who read the novel in advance of publication loved the setting and the characters of Sovereign so much, according to the news release, that Wixson elected to create “The Sovereign Series,” and is currently working on the second of three titles.
Wixson lives and writes from her home in Troy, where she and her husband raise Scottish Highland cattle.
