PORTLAND – Mumford & Sons member Winston Marshall is the lastest “special guest” to be announced at one of the official afterparties to follow his band’s “Gentlemen of the Road Stopover” event on the Eastern Promenade Saturday night.
Marshall is listed as one of the performers at an afterparty at The Big Easy on Market Street. “Stopover” emcee Reggie Watts and local reggae band Royal Hammer are also on the bill for that party. It’s unclear whether Marshall will play music or do something else.
So far, Marshall and Ben Lovett have been the only Mumford members announced as “special guests” at any of the five official parties. But all the parties are promising surprises, so anyone who performs at the “Stopover” Saturday could show up at an afterparty as well.
The day-long Mumford & Sons event on the Eastern Promenade goes from noon until around 9 p.m.
The official afterparties include:
Space Gallery, 538 Congress St., featuring Mumford member Ben Lovett doing a deejay set. $5.
The Big Easy, 55 Market St., featuring Mumford member Winston Marshall, “Stopover” emcee Reggie Watts and local reggae band Royal Hammer.
Empire Dine and Dance, 575 Congress St., with Massachusetts band Miss Fairchild (funk). $5.
Port City Music Hall, 504 Congress St., featuring Aaron Embry and Tan Vampires. $10 to $20.
State Theatre, 609 Congress St., featuring “Gentlemen of the Road Stopover” participants Dropkick Murphys and The Parkington Sisters, 10:30 p.m. $20 in advance, $25 day of the show.
