GEORGETOWN
Friends of Seguin Lighthouse plans to hold its first art exhibit on the island this summer.
Works will be displayed in Maine’s tallest and second oldest lighthouse.
The group invites artists to participate in the show.
“Bring your paints, pastels and/or cameras,” a Friends of Seguin Lighthouse release states. “Have a summer adventure, create and exhibit your artwork. You will have the opportunity to sell while helping to celebrate and preserve this historic gem.”
Artists will receive 70 percent of the sale price. Artists who are Friends of Seguin Island Lighthouse will receive 75 percent of the sale price.
“All works are to be of Seguin and can either be created on island or from your photographs,” the release states. “One finished and framed painting, paste, or photograph should be wrapped to travel and delivered to the Friends of Seguin office on Front Street in Bath by July 21,” the release continues. “We will take great care when transporting them to the island, then hanging them in the lighthouse.
The show opens Aug. 4 at the lighthouse on Seguin Island. Rain date is Aug. 5.
The exhibit will be on view through Sept. 15, the fourth annual Maine Open Lighthouse Day.
