TOPSHAM — Marie Cecile Cote Litalien, 87 and loving wife, mother, grandmother (memere) and great grandmother (memere) passed away June 21st at Mid Coast Hospital after two years of declining health.

She was born August 13, 1924 in Brunswick, a daughter of Belonie Cote and Marie Anne Levesque Cote. She graduated from St. John’s Parochial School and was a Communicant of St. John’s Church in Brunswick.

She worked various jobs retiring from Healthtex in 1984. She was always by her husband’s side building a hunting camp, cottage and two houses. The last house she helped to build was at her current residence on Merrymeeting Bay in Topsham, and was his helper on many of his other projects.

She enjoyed going to play Bingo, doing crafts and hooking rugs for her family. For many years she enjoyed going to plays at MSMT with her daughter in law, Tina. Her family was the most important part of her life and she looked forward to and enjoyed all family celebrations.

She and her husband, Roger J. Litalien were married on Sept. 5th, 1942. They would have celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary this year.

She was predeceased by her parents; sister’s, Adele Wood, Louise Letarte, Georgianna Cote and Jeannette Mann.

She is survived by her husband Roger; her son, Ronald Litalien and his wife, Christine; daughter Nancy Leavitt and her husband, Walter; grandson, Christopher Leavitt and his wife, Ruth; granddaughter, Donna Andrews and her husband, Scott; great grandchildren, Anna and Benjamin Leavitt, and Samantha and Caitlin Andrews. Marie is also survivied by a brother, Louis P. Cote of Topsham; and a sister, Rose Vaillancourt of Massachusetts.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM Wednesday, June 27 at St. John the Baptist Church in Brunswick. Burial will follow at Bay View Cemetery in Bowdoinham. There will be no visiting hours nor will there be a gathering following the burial. Memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Church, C/O All Saints Parish, 132 McKeen Street, Brunswick, ME 04011. Arrangements are in the care of the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick.
