Born in Parker Head, Phippsburg, July 12, 1927 a son of John Bowie and Francis E. Harrington, raised in Parker Head where he attended local schools then Morse High in Bath until he enlisted in the US Navy as a Seabee in WWII. He fought in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre, American Theatre campaign building roads and airfields on Saipan earning the good conduct medal 1 STAR, WWII victory medal, Navy occupation and national defense service medals.
He married Loretta Ruth Babine his life long companion and partner in life, love and happiness on Nov. 2, 1950. Fathering six children while serving in the US Submarine service until retiring from the Navy in 1966.
He raised his family in Bath while working at SUPSHIP in Bath until his retirement from government service. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hunting and puttering around his house. He was predeceased by brothers; John “Billy” Kreidler, Laurence and George Morong, and his sister; Francis and son Wayne Charles Kreilder.
He is survived by his children; Arthur, Fredrick, Brenda, Bruce and Danny. His brother; Howard Morong of Wenham, MA, six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren six great-great grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Their will be a grave side service at Oak Grove cemetery Southside on Saturday, June 23rd at 11 am for friends and family.
