BATH — Constance “Connie” Myrtle Barter Risteen, 85, of Office Drive died Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.

She was born in Portland on December 1, 1926, a daughter of Irald S. and Hazel (Munsey) Barter.

She attended Gorham School, Brunswick High School and graduated from Morse High School in the class of 1945. On April 26, 1950 she married George E. Risteen. She was employed at First National Grocery Store in Bath, Congress Shirt Factory in Bath, Jay Brush Company in Brunswick and Bath School Department lunch program for many years at Dike Newell School.

She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

She enjoyed reading biographies, riding mopeds with her husband and spending time with family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, George E. Risteen on July 2, 1993, two sisters, Virginia E. Wescott and Eleonor Merrow.

She is survived by one son, Hollis Edward Risteen of Bath, three daughters, Barbara Risteen King and her husband David of Woolwich, Debra Risteen Carlton and her husband Thomas of Brunswick and Janice Risteen Holbrook and her husband Terrance of Bath, one sister, Phyllis Barter Kelly of Bath, six grandchildren, Lisa Lee Gurney, James Lee, Jennifer Lee Hughes, Clifton E. Hallowell, Jr., Michael E. Jamison and Christopher S. Jamison, three step grandchildren, David King, Jr., Amy Haggett and Thomas Holbrook, several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath. A gathering of family and friends will follow at her daughter Barbara Kings home in Woolwich. Memorial contributions may be made to The Dean Snell Foundation, P.O. Box 104, Brunswick, 04011.
