A River Arts release describes the program as follows:
Encaustics as a contemporary medium, is a versatile method of painting with a beeswax-based paint kept molten on a heated palette. Participants will learn to prepare supports, mix colors, apply wax, fuse, etch, layer, combine collage, transfer Xerox images and incorporate found objects.
Saturday’s workshop will include demonstrations and a discussion of studio set-up and safety, supports, encaustic history and contemporary use.
Sunday’s focus will be on demonstrations in building a support, graphite and Xerox transfers, collage and embedding, incorporating found objects, impasto modeling wax and a slide presentation.
Bernard shows her sculpture, installations and encaustic works nationally.
Participation costs $200 for River Arts members or $225 for others.
