AUGUSTA — The “Concerts at Jewett” series, sponsored by University of Maine at Augusta College of Arts and Sciences and UMA Senior College, will present the Island Chamber Players for an afternoon of chamber music at 2 p.m. Sunday at Jewett Hall.

The newly formed group includes Robert Dan on viola, Chiharu Naruse on piano and cellist Benjamin Noyes. They will offer a pre-concert talk at 1 p.m.

During their debut performance at Jewett, the Island Chamber Players will play music by Mozart as well as pieces by Ravel, Debussy, Kodaly and Franck.

Robert Dan, ever since his acclaimed recital debut at Alice Tully Hall, has become one of this country’s leading violists, according to a UMA release.

Noyes grew up in Portland and found local acclaim while attending Bowdoin Summer Music Festival. He was selected by YoYo Ma to participate as soloist and recitalist throughout China.

Naruse has performed locally as well as internationally.

Tickets cost $10 for adults or $5 for students. Children age 12 and younger get in free.

Tickets are available at Pat’s Pizza in Augusta, Apple Valley Books in Winthrop and at the door.
