Gov. Paul LePage said today unions in Wisconsin “overplayed their card” when they tried to recall Gov. Scott Walker.
“To me it’s a clear signal that the collective bargaining of the unions in the state of Wisconsin overplayed their card,” he said following a news conference to announce business friendly communities. “It’s one thing to say that you don’t like a governor’s policies. It’s a totally different thing to try to throw him out with cheap political pranks.”
Walker, a Republican, survived the recall attempt 54-45 percent, according to preliminary election results.
“I will tell you something, government unions are hurting the citizens of all states,” LePage said. “That’s all I have to say about that.”
When first asked for his response to Walker’s victory in Tuesday’s recall election, LePage simply said: “Yeah Mon!,” a Jamaican expression of approval.
