WESTBROOK – While there is rain in the forecast for Saturday, June 2, that won’t stop Westbrook’s 33rd annual Together Days celebration.
The festival kicks off on June 1, and the forecast is good for that night, but there is rain in the forecast for the next day. But Dr. Warren Lain, who is heading up the committee organizing the festival for the Westbrook/Gorham Chamber of Commerce, said things would go on at Riverbank Park, rain or shine. “It’s a go,” Lain said.
On Thursday afternoon, Lain said that several large tents had been erected at the park, with a 40-foot by 100-foot tent going over the stages for the musical acts, with plenty of space for the performers, equipment, sound crews and spectators. Additionally, there will be a 40-foot by 60-foot tent in the field in front of the stages, allowing more spectators to watch the acts and stay out of the rain. “We’ll be able to get several hundred people under canvas,” Lain said. “We’ve got plenty of space for spectators.”
While most of the entertainment will be going on regardless of the weather, Lain said that the status of the annual parade, scheduled for 10 a.m., could be impacted. He said a decision to delay or cancel the parade would be made by 8 a.m. on Saturday, and the decision would be posted on the Together Days Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/#!/westbrooktogetherdays).
