BRUNSWICK — Brenton Albert Carr, 80, died May 14, 2012 after a recent illness, with his children at his side.

Throughout his journey, his wonderful sense of humor remained at the forefront, and gave his family strength during difficult times. Brent was born on January 18, 1932 in Portland, the son of Homer and Phyllis Carr.

He grew up in Falmouth where he was president of his senior class and a Varsity player in both Basketball and Baseball. Brent was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting. He served in the Korean War before beginning his career.

In 1953, he married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Brown. Together, they raised three children. Traveling around the country, he pursued the job he loved in law enforcement, first as a Cumberland County Deputy Sheriff, later an ATF agent for the US Treasury Department, and as a Secret Service Agent protecting Presidents Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter.

Brent and his family happily returned to Maine to live in the lighthouse in Castine.

Later in life he settled in Brunswick where he met and married Dianne Hardt.

Brent spent early and later years on the golf course. Golf was his passion, which he shared with his golfing buddies Mal, Jerry, Bob, and Don. In his final days he was still watching the Golf Channel and critiquing Tiger’s missed putt.
