BRUNSWICK — Jane Murchie LaCroix Jackson, age 66 of Brunswick, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston.
Jane was born in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada on August 15, 1945, a daughter of Louis Joseph and Harriett H. Horton LaCroix. She attended schools in Calais and graduated from Calais High School in the class of 1963. She later graduated from the University of Maine at Machias with a B.S. Degree in Education.
After graduation, she taught school in Houlton for 1 1/2 years. She later taught for six months in Old Town and then in Calais for 10 years before retiring in 1980 due to illness.
In 1981, Jane moved to Brunswick where she was employed for Senter’s Department Store and Olan Mills Photo Studio at Cook’s Corner.
She enjoyed painting, photographing wild flowers, and writing short stories.
She is predeceased by her sister, Eleanor Palacios who died in 1994.
Surviving are two nephews, Edward Palacios of Fresno, CA, and Peter Palacios of Bakersfield, CA; and one great nephew.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be held at a later date to be announced. Burial will be at the Calais Cemetery, Calais, Maine. If desired, memorial contributions can be made in her memory to The Salvation Army, 127 Pleasant Street, Brunswick, Maine 04011.
