DONNA DRAKE, who performed in the original Broadway cast of “A Chorus Line,” and who will direct Maine State Music Theatre’s production of the musical this year, will be at Frontier Cinema and Café on Wednesday to answer questions and watch a screening of the documentary film “Ever y Little Step.”
Maine State Music Theatre director Donna Drake and choreographer Michael Gorman will be at Frontier Cinema and Café at 7 p.m. Wednesday for a screening of “Every Little Step,” an award-winning documentary about a Broadway production of “A Chorus Line.”
The two will field questions from the audience after the screening.
Drake, who played the role of Tricia in the original Broadway cast of “A Chorus Line,” will direct Maine State Music Theatre’s production of the show, which opens the 2012 season at Pickard Theater on the Bowdoin College campus.
Gorman, who played the role of Bobby during the original Broadway run of “A Chorus Line,” choreographs this year’s MSMT production.
“Every Little Step” is a Sony Classics Documentary by filmmakers James D. Stern and Adam Del Deo that explores the incredible journey of “A Chorus Line,” the Broadway sensation created by legendary choreographer Michael Bennett. The film investigates both the original Broadway production as well as the Broadway revival and the societies in which each production debuted. It discusses the musical’s timeless and universal themes and goes behind the scenes with exclusive interviews that unfold a story of life imitating art.
Drake has been directing summer musicals at MSMT for seven years. Among the shows she’s directed are “Aida,” “Hairspray” and “The Wiz.”
Her Broadway career as a performer includes “A Chorus Line,” “Sophisticated Ladies” and “The Wind in the Willows.” She is a four-time Emmy nominee.
Gorman joined the cast of the original production of “A Chorus Line” and has gone on to become a director, choreographer and stage manager of numerous productions of the show around the world. MSMT’s production of “A Chorus Line” will be Gorman’s choreography debut in Brunswick.

Frontier Café, located in Fort Andross, 14 Maine St., will continue to show the documentary through May 27, but Drake and Gorman will only be present Wednesday.
