LISBON FALLS — Ethel “Dede” Bernier Medlen, 72, of Lisbon Falls, passed away peacefully at her home Sunday surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 12, 1939 in Lisbon Falls the daughter of Charles and Virginia “Goodwin” Bernier. She was a graduate of Lisbon High School class of 1957. On May 1, 1976 she married Paul Medlen, Sr. Dede worked at Bowdoin College in the Art Department retiring in 2007.

She was a fantastic wife, mother, grandmother and friend to so many. Dede’s love for her family radiated through her beautiful smile which remained with her always. She was also a long time member of the Toast Masters Club and will be remembered for being the biggest supporter for all of her families sporting events.

Her survivors include: her husband Paul Medlen of Lisbon Falls, a daughter Valerie Stevens of St. Thomas, sons Rocky Stevens and his wife Stacy of Sabattus and Mark Stevens and wife Gretchen of Lisbon Falls; a sister Lilly Robbins of Bryant Pond, a brother Edward Bernier of Lisbon Falls; 4 Stepsons, Gene Medlen of Portbarre, LA, Ray Medlen and wife Cyndi of Lisbon Falls, Wayne Medlen and wife Tonya of Lewiston, Arty and wife Brandi of Munford, TN; a brother-in-law, Troy Wright of Lisbon Falls. Dede enjoyed her grand children and great grand children. They included Jenn Kelly of Brunswick, Corey Dence of STTVI, Nathan Stevens of Virginia Beach, VA, Meagan Burnham and Mitchell Stevens of Sabattus, Amanda, MaKayla, and Zachary Stevens of Lisbon Falls. Great grand children include: Devon, Alden, Ashtyn and Colton.

She was predeceased by her parents and sister Tina Wright.

The family wishes to give their special thanks to Dr. Trudy Chase and her staff for the loving care and devotion they provided for Dede the past few years, as well as the staff at Beacon Hospice Inc.

Visitation to be held at the Open Door Bible Church on Thursday May 3rd from 2pm- 4pm followed by a Celebration of her life at 4pm. Burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Lisbon Falls.
