Gail leaves her husband of 39 years, Hamilton Starr, her daughter Jessica Lindsey and her husband Scott, and her son Joshua Starr and his wife, Krista. She also leaves her beloved grandson Caleb Lindsey. In addition, she leaves her mother, Arlene Delaney and her brother Rick Delaney and his wife, Rose, as well as many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Gail was preceded in death by her father, Richard Delaney.
Gail was born in Portland and raised on Bailey Island. She graduated from Brunswick High School in 1967 and attended Nasson College and the University of Maine in Orono. She married Hamie in 1972 and moved to Spencer, MA where she raised her children and lived until she retired in 2007 then returned to her hometown of Bailey Island.
Gail worked for many years in the Spencer/East Brookfield School District where her kind-heartedness and generosity touched the lives of many students and teachers. Gail was an avid Boston sports fan who loved watching all sports, especially her children’s sporting events when they were younger, never missing a game.
Gail was a thoughtful, caring, and devoted mother and wife, who will be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 12 noon at The Bailey Island Union Church, Route 24 Bailey Island, Maine, and will be followed by a gathering at Library Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gail’s memory may be made to the Coastal Humane Society, 3 Range Rd., Brunswick, ME 04011.
