A MIDNIGHT EXPLORE search for paranormal activity at the Winter Street Center, 880 Washington St., Bath, will raise money for upkeep of the historic property.

BATH — Mysterious Destinations, a Damariscottabased tour organizer, will bring a variety of paranormal activity detection devices to the Winter Street Center on Saturday as a fundraiser for Sagadahoc Preservation Inc., which owns the historic building.

Guests are also encouraged to bring their own gear, with cameras and flashlights recommended, for the search dubbed a “Midnight Explore.”

The findings from the Midnight Explore will be published on the Mysterious Destinations website at www.mysteriousdestinations.com.

Formerly a church, the Winter Street Center is noted for its Gothic Revival style with Greek Revival overtones. It was designed and built in 1843 by Anthony Coombs Raymond, a native of Brunswick.

“Past experience at this location has resulted in photographic images of orbs and a mist,” a Mysterious Destinations release states. “One paranormal investigations group obtained an electronic voice phenomenon that sounded like a child’s voice saying, ‘I’m drowning.’”

Some anecdotal reports regarding this location describe a playful, child-like spirit active in the basement, and during research on Sept. 17, 2011, various responses were received from an entity that described itself as a young girl named “Rosie,” according to the release.

Cost to participate in the Midnight Explore is $35 per person, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Winter Street Center.

The Midnight Explore is by reservation only, and participation is limited to ensure a quality experience for attending guests. To make a reservation, call Mysterious Destinations at 380-4677 or email mysteriousdestinations@gmail.com.
