BRUNSWICK — This year, the National Day of Prayer will be held on Thursday, at various locations throughout the country.

According to state coordinator Kathy Todd, the theme, “One Nation Under God,” was inspired by Psalm 33:12, which reminds people that “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”

“As our state and nation face unprecedented challenges, we ask that you join us in this time of seeking God’s hand of mercy and guidance upon our state and nation,” states a release from Todd.

The Christian Task Force for The National Day of Prayer is planning a public gathering in Augusta at noon. Participants will gather on the Capitol steps for a prayerwalk around the State House and Capitol grounds, with special prayers for Gov. LePage and state legislators. The prayerwalk will then leave the Capitol grounds and continue around the city of Augusta.

The Augusta Evangelical Pastors’ Group will lead this event and anyone is invited to join them on this special day of seeking God’s blessings on Maine.

In Brunswick, two events are planned.
