When spring cleaning, remember to clean out medicine cabinets of any medications no longer needed and drop them off during the National Medication Collection on April 28, between 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The Brunswick collection site is McLellan Building, 83 Union St. Other sites include Topsham Municipal Building and Harpswell Town Office. Proper disposal of unused medications keeps Maine’s waters cleaner and our residents safer. In case you’re wondering whether it’s worthwhile or not, after the previous collection in October 2011, Michael W. Wardrop, of U.S. DEA, Portland, reported that “Maine had the largest collection in New England with 14,140 pounds collected” and “Maine ranked No. 1 per capita in the U.S. for the largest state collection.”

Please help by dropping off unused meds during the designated hours. Thank you.
