BLUE HILL — Kyra Teboe of Brunswick won second prize at the Bagaduce Music Lending Library’s 2012 Young Composer’s Festival on April 14.
Teboe won her award in Category I: Young Composers Up To Age 13. She is the daughter of Dana Teboe and Brenda Mower-Teboe and a music student of Shari Tarleton at Brunswick Junior High School.
Teboe has been playing the tenor saxophone since she was 9. She is a member of the Brunswick Junior High jazz band, show choir and musical theater, and was the District III first chair tenor saxophone player.
Teboe’s composition, titled “Paradise,” is written for tenor saxophone, percussion, guitar, electric bass and piano.
Launched in 1996 by the Bagaduce Music Lending Library, the 16th annual Young Composers’ Competition was open to Maine students high school age and younger. This year 27 students from throughout the state submitted original compositions for judging by three professional musicians.
