BRUNSWICK — Lucy Scesa, age 98 of Brunswick, formerly of Portland, died Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Coastal Manor in Yarmouth.

Lucy was born in New York City on June 8, 1913, a daughter of Joseph and Lucia Piciulo Lovallo, and attended schools in New York City.

Lucy was a drapery maker and seamstress most of her life and also later worked at Gimbels Department Store. She moved to Portland 12 years ago coming from New York City, and has lived in Brunswick for the past three years. In addition to sewing, she liked reading and playing cards. Lucy especially enjoyed going to Foxwoods and Atlantic City where she would play the slot machines.

She is predeceased by her husband, Olindo Scesa who died in 2005, her sister, Catherine Clark in 2011, and a grandson, Thomas Scesa.

Surviving are her son, Richard Scesa and his wife, Patricia of Harpswell; Ann Marie Saito and her husband, Ghen of N.J., Robert Scesa and his wife, Joanne of N. J., Jennifer Duckles and her husband, Ben of Philadelphia, Kevin Scesa and his wife, Lauren of Philadelphia, and Michelle Scesa of Boston; and nine great grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4PM and 7 to 9PM Friday at the Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM Saturday at St. John the Baptist Church. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Portland.
