BRUNSWICK — Arts are Elementary and Spindleworks will hold two All Species Parade puppet-making workshops during April school vacation at the Theater Project, 14 School St.
Workshops will run from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and from 9 a.m. to noon April 20. Participation is free and open to all, but children must be accompanied by an adult.
“Puppet-makers are welcome to bring their own ideas and supplies from home and use the Theater Project space to create their species puppet of choice, to use the supplies available to create a puppet, or may choose to work on a large-scale puppet under the direction of one of our resident artists,” a release from organizers states.
Artist Matt Anderson (also known as Crank Sturgeon) will lead those who attend Saturday’s session in the creation of a giant inflatable jellyfish.
Sarah Jacobs of Freeport’s Smudge Art Studio for Kids will lead the April 20 workshop.
The third annual All Species Parade is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. May 11 in downtown Brunswick.
“Everyone is invited to come celebrate community and their inner species — from aardvarks to zebras, asters to zinnias, no species will be turned away,” the release states. “The only rules for the All Species Parade are (1) No live animals, (2) No motorized vehicles and (3) No banners or words.”
