Key returning players: The Red Storm return a commanding team of seasoned seniors, including midfielders Kelsey Howard, Maggie Smith, Mary Scott and Kat Gadbois. Senior Shauni Cowan will head up the defense, while junior Meg Kirsch defends the goal.
Key games this season: Scarborough expects stiff competition from Kennebunk, Cape Elizabeth, Yarmouth, Marshwood and Thornton Academy this season.
Season outlook: “We only graduated four seniors last year, so we have a lot of experience coming back,” said Wood. “Twelve seniors lead this year’s team. The girls are excited for the season and excited to defend our state championship. If everyone can stay focused and determined, we should have a successful season.”

Key returning players: The Red Storm will be led by seniors Jon Blaisdell, Luke Erwin, Andrew Jones, Jeff Oddy and Kellen Smith, as well as juniors David Pearson and John Wheeler.
Key games this season: South Portland, NYA, Portland, Kennebunk, Yarmouth and Thornton Academy should all look to be tough challenges for Scarborough this year.
Season outlook: “We return two-thirds of our starting attack from the previous two seasons,” Hezlep said. “John Wheeler has led the team in scoring in both his freshman and sophomore seasons, and Jon Blaisdell will be a threat anytime he has the ball. In the midfield, we graduated 80 percent of our scoring from last year, but will look to a strong group of seniors to step up and fill that void. On the defensive end, our LSM, Andrew Jones, returns to start for a third. David Pearson will look to improve on a strong sophomore season and senior Garrett Hazelwood will anchor the close defense.”

Key returning players: Scarborough looks to defend its title by returning key talents such as Mo Hannan, Dom Burnham, Erin Giles, Alyssa Williamson and Marissa O’Toole.
Key games this season: Griffin said that he expects strong competition from Thornton Academy, Kennebunk and perennial power South Portland in 2012.
Season outlook: “We return a strong group of players with plenty of quality pitching,” Griffin said. “The defense should be solid, and we will have a good lineup one through nine. Our bench will also have some capable contributors. We hope to challenge for another state title.”

Key games this season: According to McDonald, Windham, Deering and Gorham are all fielding strong teams this year, and will be on the Storm’s radar.
Season outlook: “With eight seniors and five returning starters, we hope to continue building upon the success of last year,” McDonald said. “The strength of the team should be their depth, experience and senior leadership.”

Last year’s record: Undefeated regular season; 3rd in Cumberland County Championship; 7th in SMAA Championship; 8th Class A State Meet
Key returning players: Seniors Nick Morris, Mike Tudor and Wout Moulin, along with juniors Alec James, Robert Hall, Matt Hassler, Merrick Madden and Kevin Manning, will look to lead this experienced team even further than they went last year. Rounding out the returning roster are sophomores Alex Karam, Cameron Langlois, Ian Morris and Mike Pino.
Season outlook: “Our goal is to improve every day, and to perform our best in the championship meets,” Veilleux said. “It’s been 11 years since the program has won a state outdoor title, and we would like to end that streak this year. The athletes on the team are motivated and focused on doing the work necessary to be able to challenge for the title in June. We are a well-rounded team this spring, with top-scoring threats several events. We need to stay healthy, but if we do that we have a lot of talent on this squad, and they are proven winners. We have a chance to be the first team since Cheverus in 1989 to win all three titles – cross country, indoor and outdoor in a single year, which would be an impressive accomplishment for all the athletes involved.”
