Blanchard comes to the organization from the president’s office of Buffalo State College in New York, where she managed the college’s communications, fundraising, donor relations and community relations.
She held a similar position before that at the College of William and Mary in Virginia, where she also earned her Ph.D. in American studies, specializing in American literature and culture, particularly that of 19th century New England.
Blanchard also holds degrees from Carleton College in Minnesota and a master’s from the University of Southern Maine in that school’s American and New England Studies program.
A press release from the organization’s board of directors states that Blanchard comes to the historical society “with the energy and experience to build programs and outreach initiatives with the communities of Brunswick, Harpswell, and Topsham that the society serves.”
