TOPSHAM — Firefighters from several departments are on the scene of a fire in a large house at 1133 Lewiston Road in Topsham that has shut down the busy Route 196.

The call was reported shortly before 2 p.m.

Fire officials decided to summon additional manpower to fight the fire and were receiving mutual aid, authorities said, but it is now under control. Traffic has been detoured onto River Road.
