WAYNE — Maine State Police and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency on Thursday searched the home of a Kents Hill Road man and charged him with sexually assaulting a boy.

Mark Kimball, 60, of Wayne, was arrested at his home and charged with gross sexual assault, said Sgt. Bill Ross of the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit.

Kimball was being held at the Franklin County jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.

Ross said the alleged victim is a boy younger than 18, though he declined to provide a specific age. The assault reportedly occurred at the end of February in the Franklin County community of Carrabassett Valley. State police and Carrabassett Valley Police investigated the complaint.

Kimball was arrested around 10 a.m. Thursday.

“Following the arrest there was a search warrant at his home related to this incident,” Ross said. “The Maine DEA and Computer Crimes Unit assisted in that search,” Ross said.

The investigation is ongoing, he said. Additional details about the allegations were not available.

Ross was unsure when Kimball was scheduled to make his first court appearance.
