BRUNSWICK — Curtis Memorial Library will conclude its March “screwball comedies” film series with a free screening of “The Lady Eve” at 7:30 p.m. today in the Morrell Meeting Room.
Directed by Preston Sturges, the 1941 classic stars Henry Fonda and Barbara Stanwyck.
Fonda plays a guileless heir to a brewery tycoon. He’s more interested in snakes than women.
Stanwyck portrays a gold digger in league with card sharks who target ocean liner passengers as easy marks.
The two fall for each other, miscommunication ensues, witty dialogue abounds and romance hangs in the balance.
Refreshments, including mocktails, will be served. For more information, call 725-5242.
