DAYTON, OH — Janet Smith Levy, age 61, of Dayton, passed away on March 26, 2012 after a long battle with early on-set Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born in Philadelphia, PA on December 26, 1950.
She was the loving wife of Mark Levy, mother of Andrew Levy (Kate) of Chicago and James Levy of Dayton, sister of Barbara Smith Norton (John) of Brunswick ME., and aunt of Janet Carol Norton of Los Angeles
She was preceded in death by her parents, James M. and Charlotte Waltemyer Smith of Carlisle, PA.
Janet held a Master of Arts degree from George Washington University as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree from Gettysburg College ( 1972) where she was a member of the college choir. She worked in the Library of Congress as a paper conservator early in her career. Janet enjoyed volunteering in the Oakwood High School Library, and was a past member of the Associate Board of the Dayton Art Institute. She was a member of St. Albert the Great Church. Janet greatly enjoyed the company of her family, friends and neighbors, studying art, as well as her time with the Read N’Feed book group.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Saturday, March 31st at 11 a.m. at St. Albert the Great Church (3033 Far Hills Ave., Kettering OH) followed by a reception in the parish center where family will receive friends.
