BATH — Sandra “Sandy” J. Reed died Sunday, March 25, 2012 will be forever etched in our hearts as we said goodbye to a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, friend and aunt, Sandra J. Reed of Bath.
She died peacefully in her home surrounded with love. She was born in Bath on March 5, 1949. She attended Bath schools and Morse High School. Sandy enjoyed reading, yard sales, and spending time visiting with family and friends. Of course, her nieces, nephews and grandchildren were some of her favorite visitors. Sandy was a long time dedicated employee, of 26 years, at LL Bean.
She is survived by her siblings, Joanne McDunnah of Southbridge, Mass., Emil Van Smith, Jr. of Freeport, James D. Rideout, of Lisbon Falls, Debra A. Harrison of Wiscasset and Susan E Hinds of Litchfield.
She was predeceased by her sister Linda Richards of Bath, in 1997, her mother, Dorothy Rideout of Bath in 2005 and her father, Emil Van Smith, Sr. of Phippsburg in 1954.
She also left behind her loving companion and best friend of twenty-five years, Glenn McAfee of Bath, her proudest accomplishment and son, Douglas Van Reed of Hermon, his wife, Alison and her three grandchildren, Alexis Grace, Brady Van and Corban Levi, of Hermon.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, March 31st at noon at the American Legion Hall in Bath. A private burial will follow at the cemetery in Westpoint ( Phippsburg) where she will rest in peace with her father and sister.
