AUGUSTA (AP) — Maine’s attorney general will join his colleagues from around the country who will witness arguments before the U. S. Supreme Court on the national health care overhaul this week.
The court will hear three days of arguments on different parts of the Affordable Care Act starting today. Because of limited space in the courtroom, the attorneys general of states challenging the law are sharing seating on a rotating basis.
Maine Attorney General William Schneider will be in the courtroom on Wednesday.
Maine is one of 26 states that have challenged the law which is now being tested before the nation’s highest court.
The so- called individual mandate will be at issue today and Tuesday, and the requirement that states expand Medicaid will be aired Wednesday.
The court plans to rule in June.
