FREEPORT — The fourth annual Sitting Pretty art auction to benefit Freeport’s Port Teen Center is scheduled to run from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Freeport Community Center, 53 Depot St.
This year more than 100 teen and adult artists have painted, sculpted, carved and crafted 100 beautiful wood canoe paddles donated by L.L. Bean.
John Bottero from Thomaston Place Auction Galleries will return for the fourth time as volunteer auctioneer. Refreshments will be served. Raffles are planned.
“The first Sitting Pretty began in 2008 following the death of a Freeport High School classmate who was a teen leader at the teen center,” a release from organizers states. “In coping and coming to terms with his death, his friends and family created this creative outlet as a way to embrace their grief in honor of Max Thomas. Since then, each year we have painted as a community and created amazing art in support of a good cause.”
Tickets cost $10 per person or $25 per family. Call 865- 6171. A preview of paddles can be seen online at www.theportteencenter.org.
