BRUNSWICK — Artists at the Spindleworks Art Center are embarking on a new creative adventure this spring.
In collaboration with local artist Matt Anderson, they will transform a studio space in Fort Andross into a multimedia art installation exploring the theme of “habitat.”
Beginning this month, the artists will meet weekly in the space, creating work that combines their interests in sculpture, fiber, installation and multimedia arts.
Anderson and the artists at Spindleworks have worked together before on smaller projects, but “Habitat” represents their first collaboration that runs over the course of several months.
“We’re off to a rollicking start. Everyone is contributing really cool ideas and goals,” Anderson said in a Spindleworks release about the collaboration. “It’s wonderful to imagine how these creations will eventually merge and interact.”
The public will be invited to experience the culmination of the work during the May 11 Second Friday Art Walk.
The project was funded through a grant from the Alfred Senter Fund and by a funding campaign on Kickstarter.com, in which individuals donated more than $3,000 toward the project. The funds will be used to cover the cost of renting the space, materials and a small stipend for Anderson.
