TOPSHAM — The School Administrative District 75 board of directors will meet at 5 p.m. today at Mt. Ararat High School.
The school board has several new business items to address, including a renewed discussion of whether to contract out custodial services. The board will discuss whether it wishes to proceed with arbitration to determine if the school district can contract out custodial services; and discuss whether it wants to refer the matter to the Facilities Committee for further consideration.
The school board also is scheduled to hear a proposal from Colin Roy, the high school athletic director, to retire former student Mark Rogers’ No. 8 jersey from all future use by the high school baseball program.
In other business the school board is scheduled to:
— Consider approving the request by teacher Marybeth Latti and sixth-grade students to construct an outside play area at Mt. Ararat Middle School.
— Accept the resignation of teachers effective Aug. 31, one administrator effective June 30, and support staff personnel effective June 30. All have previously indicated their intent to retire from their positions.
The retiring staff members are Sheila Bohlin, high school art teacher; Paul Booth, middle school teacher; Neil Chivington, social worker at Bowdoin Central School; Sharon Spencer, middle school speech and language teacher; Frederic Weinberg, high school librarian/media specialist; Colin Roy, high school athletic director; Ron Douglass, working head custodian at Bowdoin Central School; Juanita Dyer, an education technician at Woodside Elementary School; and Martha Mellon, an education technician at Woodside Elementary School.
— Hear a proposal from Ron Hutchins, coach of the Eagles Girls Hockey Club, to have girls ice hockey become a varsity sport at Mt. Ararat High School.
— Enter executive session to consider disciplinary action regarding a student.
— Hear committee reports and the report of Superintendent Brad Smith on the meeting with selectmen of SAD 75’s member towns held Tuesday regarding the budget process.
