PORTLAND (AP) — Maine Realtors say home sales were up by nearly 30 percent in February, compared to the same month a year ago.
Figures from the Maine Real Estate information System, a statewide multiple listing system, show 624 singlefamily homes were sold in February, a 29.5 percent increase over the number sold in February 2011.
Meanwhile, the median sales price dropped by nearly 6 percent, to $ 149,900 last month. The median sales price means half of the homes sold for more and half for less.
National trends show a 9.4 percent increase in home sales and less than 1 percent rise in the median sales price over the year.
