FRISCO, Texas — Maurice Almond scored 33 points, Xavier Silas added 25 and the Maine Red Claws kicked off a four-game trip Tuesday night with a 105-91 victory against the Texas Legends at the Dr. Pepper Arena.

Almond, who is third in the league in scoring average with 23.4, had 24 in the first half as the Red Claws (18-26) overcame a rash of injuries and illnesses to beat the Legends for the second time this season.

Almond propelled the Red Claws to a 52-46 halftime lead, which was expanded to 84-63 by the end of the third quarter, when Silas had eight of his 17 second-half points.

Kenny Hayes added 17 points, a team-high 12 assists and along with Almond, nine rebounds.

Maine played without forwards DeShawn Sims (foot) and Lawrence Hill (ankle).

Assistant coach Donyell Marshall filled in for head coach Dave Leitao, who has the flu.
