FREEPORT — Bertha Emmons Sylvain, 96 passed away on Monday, March 12, 2012 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick. Born in Richmond the daughter of Benjamen Owen and Yvonne Dostie Emmons, she graduated from Richmond High School.
On September 2, 1933 she married Emile Joseph Sylvain at St. Ambrose Church in Richmond. Bertha was a homemaker before going to work at LLBean. She and her husband both retired from Bean’s on the same day. She enjoyed sports, especially watching tournment basketball and the Boston Red Sox.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, three brothers Don, Chet, Bill and one sister Pinky.
She is survived by her daughter Jacqueline Carr and husband Roland of Monmouth, a son Richard Sylvain and his wife Karen of Freeport, three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a. m. Monday, March 19 at Burr Cemetery in Freeport. Pastor Sandy Williams will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Freeport Fire Rescue Company, 4 Main Street, Freeport, ME 04032 Arrangements entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home, Gray.
