TOPSHAM — Mary W. Amerighi, age 92, passed away on March 9, 2012, at Cadigan Lodge in Topsham.
She was born February 20, 1920 in Torrington, Connecticut, the daughter of the late William W. and Catherine Hanisco Williamson.
She was educated in the Torrington schools and graduated from Danbury State Teachers College. She taught at the elementary level in the Torrington and Litchfield school systems for over thirty years.
In 1950 she married Gordon Amerighi and settled in Litchfield where she would reside for the next 52 years. She was an active member of St. Anthony’s Parish, as well as a volunteer for the Litchfield Historical Society. In 2002 she relocated to Maine to live at the Highlands Retirement Community.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Gordon B. Amerighi, and her sister, Elizabeth Reynolds.
She is survived by her two daughters; Mary Ellen Porrata of Ridgefield, CT and Kate Winne of Georgetown, Maine, and four grandchildren; Lucas Winne of Arrowsic, ME, Michael Porrata of Brooklyn, NY, James Porrata of Southbury, CT and Eliza Winne of Sequim, WA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 49 South Street, Litchfield, CT. Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery, Litchfield. Visitation hours will be from 5 to 7 p. m. Monday, March 12 at Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield, CT.
